Importing and exporting inspection assignments
Vidsy Pipes can move complete pipe-inspection assignments into and out of a project. Unlike a flat event report, an assignment preserves the Bundle, Recordings, editable Detection events, and supported source details.
BEFDSS INSPECTION/PIPELINE XML is the primary exchange format. CAMI import is also supported.
Import an assignment
- Switch to Recordings and choose Import inspection assignment from the recording-bundle actions.
- Select a BEFDSS XML or CAMI file.
- Resolve any missing Recording files when prompted.
- Choose Copy into project or Link to original for the referenced videos.
- Review the preflight summary, then confirm the import.
The import creates a Bundle with one Recording for each supported inspection. Supported observations become ordinary persisted Detection events that you can review and edit. Unknown observation codes remain identifiable and are reported instead of being silently discarded.
When an imported external identity already exists, choose whether to cancel, replace the existing record, skip the incoming record, or merge it as a separate record. You can apply replace, skip, or merge to all remaining conflicts.
You can also add a CAMI assignment to an existing Bundle through Add file or by dropping the file on that Bundle.
Export an assignment
- Open Home > Exchange and choose Export.
- Select All bundles, Current bundle, or Selected recordings.
- Choose XML as the destination format.
- Review and resolve any preflight errors.
- Export the file.
XML export includes supported assignment data and Detection events, including events you added or edited after import. Continuous events are written as paired observations. Supported distances and clock positions are included when present.
Vidsy validates the complete output before replacing the destination. Missing mandatory values, invalid times, conflicting assignment metadata, or events that cannot be represented stop the export and are reported; they are never silently omitted.
Reports versus assignments
Use CSV, Excel, or PDF when you need a human-readable event report. Use XML when another pipe-inspection system needs the structured assignment and its editable observations.
Use Bundle Compare when you want a temporary comparison against reference data without importing it into the project.
